Read & listen
In my school, there are words and phrases. They cannot be open even with a golden sword.
Dōgen, Eihei Kōroku.
Zen masters attempt to convey their understanding of texts. Some phrases are clear, while others are mysterious, meant to resonate within, quietly, without intellectual analysis. And one day, like a bud, a meaning will bloom.
Zazen and study are like the two wings of a bird. The bird is understanding, no matter how small, of profound reality, through the body-mind.
